Red Wines

Throughout the years, Black Swan Wines have won numerous regional and state awards and medals, the best being a trophy & gold medals in 2002 for the region’s “Best Reds – our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Nearly all of this boutique estate’s fruit is grown from large sturdy “pensioner” vines (65 years old) producing wine grapes which are fruit & flavour driven. The properties rich loamy soil is rich in nutrients & minerals which are vital to quality growth of the wine grapes. Prior to harvest, the vines are thinned & stripped of any secondary fruiting to ensure maximum quality of the new season fruit. Harvesting & sorting is done by hand so only the best grapes are selected for the season’s vintage.

2007 Cabernet Franc

We proudly present our Cabernet Franc, from 60+ yr. old vines. This variety is not commonly found in the Swan Valley wine region. The colour is deep purple with a nose characteristic of blackberries, raspberries, plum, cinnamon, mocha and dried fruits. The palate presents black berries, plum, chocolate and vanilla beans. Moderate tannins, mouth filling with a tight finish.

Suggested foods – Beef, game, pork, wild mushrooms, Atlantic salmon, cheese & pastas

2011 Merlot

Mulberry and violets abode a soft and supple mouth feel with a linear and balanced finish. Our take on this classic variety this is a great all-rounder with a variety of foods.

2008 Cabernet Merlot

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, resulting in a wine of dark plum colour and a delicious nose of plum, black berries,
mocha, allspice, clove & cinnamon. A full bodied & broad palate of vanilla bean, chocolate & black berries with an extra long finish.

 
Suggested foods – Lamb, chicken, game, warm salads, risottos & hearty seafood

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

From the “pensioner” vines, we have produced an inky, deep purple & bold Cabernet Sauvignon, with a nose of “fruits of the forest”.
Maturity has brought on a full palate of upfront black berry fruit, eucalyptus and mocha with tight structured tannins.
